"Greek comedy was a big part in ancient Greece around 6th century BCE. The writers of the comedies were and Menander and their comedies made fun of philosophers, politicians, and artists. The plays also sometimes made fun of AristophanesGreek society in general and of political institutions, legal systems, institutions, education, religious practices, and warfare in the Hellenic world. The plays also go into something of the identity of the audience and showed just the Greeks' sense of humour.
Comedy has been around for a very long time. Comedy actually started in ancient Greece. But probably they even had it before it just wasn't recorded. Ancient Greek komodia that was the word comedy. Greek comedy was one of the big three and only three genres of theatre. The origins date back to a really long time ago, the sixth century BCE to be exact. The first form of comedy was mimicking people on pottery. As it became more and more popular it became dirty. So to awnser one of my questions which was "has comedy changed from ancient to know and if so then how" the answer is it hasn't really changed. Comedy today is dirty as we all know. Comedy started to become this way in the seventh century BCE. The first comedian writer was Archilochus and Hipponax. Then Aristotle wrote the first comedy plays.
A comedy play. All comedies had a very similar structure but still were all unique. The first part was the parados. The parados was when as much as 24 actors came up and performed songs. They were always dressed to represent something like an olive tree or a lion stalking its prey. So this would get the audience exited and a general idea of the beginning of the comedy. The second part was the agon. The agon most of the time was a contest of who had the most wits or a verbal debate. The agon often had only the main characters in the scene. The agin used a lot of improvisation. This scene in the comedy tends to be the meat of the story. The third andof the comedy was the parabasis. The parabasis normally spoke towards the audience and the poet. The fourth and final of the geek play is the exodus. This isn't what we would call the ending that would be the parabasis. The exodus is what we would call the credits. This is when the performers come to the stage to sing or perform on final song.
